Weather conspires to deny teams Saturday action in Kramolin GP

01/06/2024

Following a night of heavy rain off the back of previous wet weather during the week, the decision was made to abort all track activity for today (Saturday). That means the EMX Quad third round, and the FIM Sidecar Motocross World Championship will be run over just the one day tomorrow (Sunday 2nd June).

The FIM Jury meeting comprised all the FIM officials involved, the promoter WSC/APO Multimedia and officials of the organising club Auto Moto Klub Nepomuk. The latter group were not happy with the outcome, because a great deal of effort and expense has gone into the build-up of the event, and spectators were already on-site, many of them in campers and motorhomes.

Nonetheless, a majority decision was reached, and the plan was implemented.

Consultation with the top teams from both series had revealed they were unwilling to go out in the Saturday conditions and possible wreck engines and bike parts generally. The track was also deemed unrideable in a couple of sections, which would make any meaningful qualifying a farce.

It was seen as a better option to save everything for the next day with a short qualifying and then run the respective championship races regardless.

The prognosis for better weather over the next twenty-four hours was generally good, so the decision was ratified.

The TV Highlights show will feature the backstory and Saturday qualifying races, so be sure to catch that and all the other news and events as they happen will be here on www.fimsidecarcross.com and all our social media platforms.
